You do not need to spend millions on a charger... get one with a good current delivery and you are well covered. RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - TheOldPresbyope - 04-29-2025 Just get an official Raspberry Pi power supply and be done with it. They supply the required power at 5.1 V through adequately sized wires. Regards, Kent RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - carrion - 05-05-2025 Highly recommend using linear power supply. The improvement of sound quality is monumental. RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - ils1974 - 05-05-2025 Which one do you recommend? RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - carrion - 05-05-2025 Sorry, I do not want to make any advertisements here. Search the Internet for low-noise 5V linear PSU. If you plan to use just RPi + DAC then 1A will be enough. However if you want to use Hard Drive for example then 3A is minimum. RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - the_bertrum - 05-06-2025 Meanwhile, I'd counter that the official Raspberry Pi power supply is best. Look at prices and decide what you are willing to bear. RE: Problem setting up Raspberry Pi 3 with DAC - carrion - 05-06-2025 Robert, low price doesn’t mean something is best. Official RPi PSU (or any charger as well) is a switching mode device, which is very noisy and significantly degrades audio signal. It may be the best if you use your RPi as a computer, but is the worst with audio gear. Try linear psu for yourself, you’ll change your opinion I promise. When I say "look at the price", I meant that each person should decide if a linear PSU is worth the extra in their case. In my case it isn't, I can't hear a difference, I can't follow any logic that says how it makes a difference. But that's me, you think it is worth it, the OP may also. |
