I use the first driver with my ProtoDAC stacked directly on top of the Pi.
At a guess, the second driver should be used if you have a stack of the ProtoDAC on top of an Ian Canada FifoPiMa reclocker board. But that's must my 2 cents worth. Best to ask someone who has both.

The FiFoPiMa is an IanCanada reclocker board that goes between the Pi and the ProtoDAC.
The FiFoPiMa requires a particular driver which is why there is a separate entry for it. If you are not using that board then choose "ProtoDAC TDA1387 X8" and you should be all set.

Thanks guys. "FiFoPiMa" looked a million miles from a product name, so I assumed it was some Linux gobbledegook/shorthand. I still wouldn't use the words "catchy" and"FIFOPiMa" in the same sentence !
