Randomly missing audio (HDMI) - VCHI service conn error - challenge - 01-09-2022 Hello, I get a few seconds of missing audio while playing. It happens sometimes one time per hour, sometimes multiple, sometimes never... Moode 7.6.1 - RPi4 - CamillaDSP on (6ch in use) - HDMI out - Suptronics x6000 7.1 board (hdmi input not HAT, self powered) Sound stops for like 10 seconds then it resumes. WebUI slow/unaccessible when it happens. Not sure if it happens between songs or randomly. I am not using it daily. And don't remember if it happened in past. Today I updated from 7.4.x to 7.6.1 and I realized about it. Not asking for a solution but what could it be? kernel bug? I checked the logs and this shows up when it happens. Code: Jan 9 13:39:43 moode kernel: [ 490.337605] bcm2835_audio bcm2835_audio: failed to close VCHI service connection (status=1) kern and moode logs attached as they were too long for a message. BR RE: Randomly missing audio (HDMI) - VCHI service conn error - Tim Curtis - 01-09-2022 I thought HDMI multi channel output only worked starting with RaspiOS Bullseye ?? RE: Randomly missing audio (HDMI) - VCHI service conn error - challenge - 01-09-2022 Jeez are you implying I'm running a hacked kernel? I am asking seriously as I don't remember and I'm very surprised about it. I though this was a vanilla image... but haven't used it for a while, so it could be. I remember the kernel had to be hacked for the multichannel to work in past, but I thought it was added a good while ago and don't remember having to do it in the latest moode releases?? (had a brain fart, just realized the kernel doesn't change in moode updates... so it could be true!) Let me check! ![]() EDIT: nah it's running stock moode kernel, no mods. RE: Randomly missing audio (HDMI) - VCHI service conn error - bitlab - 01-09-2022 @Tim Curtis hdmi multi channel with camilladsp works since camilladsp is added. Multichannel with usb is a different story. Nah, kernel is stock from moode iso. Just checked. As bitlab says it works (hdmi multi channel with camilladsp) Tested up to 3-way stereo crossovers and it works fine. Cannot provide any other debug info. Now it's playing (since 1hr ago), no issues. I'll keep an eye on it. RE: Randomly missing audio (HDMI) - VCHI service conn error - Tim Curtis - 01-26-2022 IIRC multichannel USB audio requires Linux kernel 5.15.y branch. We may use this branch in upcoming moOde 8 release but no guarantee. Eventually though the 5.15.y branch will become the default in Raspberry Pi OS.
