Hello everyone - Nico4xo - 03-12-2024

Thanks for registering

Let me introduce my nickname, Nico4xo (Nicolas). I am French and unfortunately I have just reached fifty.

When I was little, 40 years ago, I often sat at the foot of my father's stereo and listened to his records on headphones. I quickly tasted music from the 70s and 80s, Pink Floyd, Dire Strait, Queen, etc...

And then I don't know why in the 90s I lost the taste for actively listening to music, maybe the style of music of the time, maybe the success of CDs, I don't know.

And then, recently, I came across by chance on eBay the amp that was in the living room when I was little, a Pioneer SA-510, and I bought it out of nostalgia! I took a dusty vinyl turntable out of the garage, bought a pair of Eltax Monitor III and put on Dark Side of the Moon... Obviously a lot of emotions, maybe a mid-life crisis!

Following that, as I am not only nostalgic for my childhood and analog sound, I wondered how to combine the good sound of the past and the technology of the present to obtain something that keeps me wanting to listen to music. music ! And while doing research I came across the RPI/DAC couple, it was a good thing I had a NAS and an old RPI 3 b which was also lying around with which I streamed films on my home cinema before I discovered the shield tv.

So I tested that! I bought an iqaudio dac+ dac and still with dark side of the moon which I got in 24/192!

WOWHHHH!!!

I then explored the available audio distributions. I tested everything!! And I came to the conclusion, whether auditory or ergonomic, that MoOde was going to be the one I was going to use.

So thanks to its designer, Tim I think!

I'm only at the beginning I think, better rpi, better dac (the protodac is already giving me signals since apparently it is promising for a more vintage sound), etc.

I explore!

Nico
