Why Plexamp? - GuitarManMike - 04-12-2025 Can someone help me understand the point of integrating Plexamp with Moode? I'm not asking why someone would use Plexamp. I use Plex and Plexamp a lot. I use Plexamp at work, in the car, when I'm traveling. Plexamp does some cool things, but at home, I prefer Moode. What I don't understand is the point of the integration. Maybe I'm not doing it right, but switching back and forth is cumbersome. I have to go into the setting every time I want to use it. It seems like if I wanted to use Plexamp I would set up a dedicated Plexamp Pi, and if I wanted to use both, it would make more sense to just have two separate boxes. Is there something I'm missing? What is gained by connecting the two? Thanks, Mike RE: Why Plexamp? - Snoil - 04-13-2025 good morning, I haven't tried Plexamp on moode myself but - if your Plex Server (and media files) is not running locally on your home network plexamp would allow you to play those files via moode I figure. - the way your files are tagged/presented and availibility of playlists created in plex would be the same across all platforms/places. - one can use Plex's feature, "agents", to have the presentation of music files organized in the first place. When I use Plexamp within Moode, I control it with either the Plexamp web interface or the Plexamp app on my phone. So I might as well just be using Plexamp directly. Maybe I'm missing something and there is a way to use it from within Moode. The way I have it set up and the way I've tried using it, I'm essentially switching over to the Plex environment. I don't see any of the Plex info from within the Moode UI, but maybe I'm just doing something wrong. It's similar to the other audio renderers included in moOde. They provide a way for users to play music via their Raspberry Pi audio system. |
