Access my home NAS remotely - Deenoo - 04-25-2025

Hi,
Will moode accept/setup/receive my home NAS? The path is (e.g.) mynas.dyndns.org/Music.
Unfortunately this setting is not accepted by SMB or NFS. I have set up a user and password.
It's true that I tried it on my home network, not from outside.

I'm confused. Is your NAS on the same LAN as your moOde player?

What happened with you asked moOde to scan for remote hosts?

If the NAS hostname is, for example, mynas, and the IP address of the NAS is, for example, 192.168.0.111, then either of these should always work

mynas.local/Music
192.168.111/Music

the following will work if your LAN router runs a local resolver which caches local host information (mine doesn't)

mynas/Music

Hi Kent,
In this case, NAS is at home and Moode is in another city, not on the same LAN. Smile Hence the dydns is the access path/Therefore, dydns is the access route.

If I've read the DYNDNS pages correctly, they are offering access to services in your LAN over HTTP, you'd need SMB or NFS protocols for it to work for mounting shares into moOde.

Now I understand why moode cannot mount the NAS via dyndns.

This is a mare's nest. Now you're talking about opening up your local router's firewall to the well-known ports that support SMB (or NFS). Surprise, they are among the first ports attacked by the 'bots.

I'd suggest you just get a big USB drive, either SSD or HD, to load up with music and take with you.
