Oh ok, if the device uses a PCM5122 DAC chip then "Generic I2S" is the wrong driver.

Choose "HiFiBerry DAC+", "HiFiBerry DAC+ Pro" or "Allo Boss DAC". The manufacturer should state which driver to use but unfortunately there is no such information on the product Web page.

Ok, feel very stupid. It works  Thought I also picked a "Generic" device back when I first configured Volumio years ago. The fact that the test file worked in Moode also made me think it was the right choice. Thanks a lot for the suggestions, seems to work fine now!

There's no stupid here.  We do silly, but no one is stupid.  You should see some of the dumb things interesting tests I've done over the years.
