Hi,
Firstly, thanks for the great work on the excellent software!
I have an idea for a improvement to address a small niggle.
I have looked around for similar posts but haven't found anything yet, so sorry if there is a solution posted somewhere.
Here's the use case. I have my moode installation feeding into a DAC connected via USB. I use the DAC as input source selector.
If I forget to switch on the DAC or forget to switch the DAC to the USB input before booting the Pi running moode, it gives an error "Output is set to HDMI but no audio device was detected on the HDMI port" because it can't find the previously set USB output - then I have to dig in to the moode settings to reset moode's output to USB. While this isn't that laborious, I acknowledge, it seems like unnecessary faff - and is quite complicated to explain to others in the household. If the DAC is set to USB input when moode starts, all is well and it uses the USB output as desired.
Fwiw, I actually have 2 separate systems with different model DACs and the behaviour is the same.
My suggestion is to make the moode output selection 'sticky' - i.e. to store the selected device and look for it again (when pressing play?) rather than resetting it when it can't find the previously-set output. If it's not present perhaps give a warning - but then look for it again - rather than having to dig into the menu to reset it.
