Hi From NL

Hi All,

I found Moode while looking for a DIY streaming solution. I'm working on upgrading my current Sonos based solution with extra functionality and higher quality audio. I already went from a collection of play:1 and Play:3 speakers to Symfonisk into B&W and V-Vox speakers. (see a.o. https://www.reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/...to_a_high/)
The next step will be streaming lossless into class D amps, Fosi v3,  using Moode. I already ordered the Pi, still thinking if I will use an external DAC or hat. I have an Icon Cube G lying around, perhaps I can get that one to work with it?

Best regards,
Martin

Hi, and welcome aboard.
Yes, the Cube will do the job. Well, you'll be using just its DAC, but it is actually "lying around", so...

I indeed have a few sound interfaces available that are of good quality but are no longer supported or outdated. Especially FireWire versions unfortunately are obsolete now. But getting those to work on a Pi will be challenging. The cube will be my first try.

Hi, welcome to the forum fellow NLer!

If in the end you decide to not use the Cube I can recommend an USB DAC. I think the sound quality and also reusability of a USB DAC are very good. There's plenty of nice DACs from e.g. SMSL and Topping available on Marktplaats for instance. Just found me a very nice Topping E30 II in mint condition on marktplaats, it now happily plays together with my RPi4 with moOde.

Dank je  Smile

I have a SMSL C100 in my shopping cart. First I'm going to do some tests, but I guess this one will be ordered soon.
If the cube still works, it can be a nice second system in the future.
