Hello all,

Happy to have managed to setup Moode on an Rpi4 (4gb) and all appears to be well (after a couple of hiccups finding my USB drives).

Planning to play with this and get things into a nice case with a decent DAC and looking forward to having things on my network.

Very excited that Moode, unlike some other offerings, allows for running Docker containers alongside. This is just fantastic for my purposes and really opens the doors in terms of possibilities.

Hopefully won't have too many issues - looking forward to seeing how far I can customise things and how deep the rabbit hole goes.

There was some discussion way back about including some basic docker infrastructure in moOde to make things easier. If you have some knowledge in this area feel free to post a Thread.

I'm also from the UK and have been enjoying moOde for quite some time now, it's brilliant!

I've got the music library coming from a NAS (OpenMediaVault) attached to another Raspberry Pi. I also have another Raspberry Pi running Navidrome, recently installed, which is an open source version of Spotify. That accesses the same music library.

I prefer using MoOde when I'm sitting in front of the music system (and when I have the music continuously playing on my internet radios whilst busy doing stuff), but Navidrome looks like an interesting and alternative way to access music and it can transcode too for slower connections. Have fun trying that too if you want!

moOde has been running 24/7 without any issues so far.

I have *some* basic knowledge of Docker, enough to pull and start containers, install on Linux etc.

Given that Moode is Debian based I just went ahead and attempted an installation and to my satisfaction it just appeared to work, which is great.

I've now got one container up and running and functioning as it should - a P2P implementation.

If you think there is value in me trying to put together a post of the steps I took to install and get the Hello World container up and running, I can certainly try to do that - please let me know where the best place to post this is! This may not be immediate though!

I wouldn't know anything further than that really, what additional infrastructure in Moode may be required or be useful to make Docker more accessible - are you talking UI elements that makes installing things easier? A list of known good containers that bring additional functionality to Moode or a system it may be installed on?

Given the P2P nature of the application I am using Docker for, I would assume that you (or other Admins) would not like me to detail the application itself or its usage, certainly wouldn't want to step on any toes. 

I believe that a simple guide outlining how to get Hello World up and running would suffice, however I'm not sure how this would differ from what is already available out there - I guess the main benefit would be that the knowledge is collated in one place easy for Moode users, without having to scrabble around the internet

Nice - I've got two 2.5" SATA drives attached over USB adapters, running through a powered hub otherwise the RPi complains dues to current limitations. Going to try and add another this afternoon and see if the hub can handle it.

I've just moved into a new place so trying to work out the best place in the network/system for Moode to sit, how best to control, which amp I want it to play through etc.

Not heard of Navidrome - will check it out shortly. I only listen to a local library and not online services so being able to use it with Moode is really useful.

I believe one of the first major uses of Docker with moOde was 6 years ago in @remy1961's how-to-do instruction to LED/OLED Displays using pydPiper. In that case, the relatively trivial installation of the Docker engine was buried in a helper script in the pydPiper repo. Wouldn't hurt to make that information a separate topic.

I suggest that any such guide should make clear that it addresses installing the Docker engine so appropriate containers can be run in the moOde appliance and does NOT address containerizing the moOde appliance itself, which IMHO would be a unnecessary and misguided activity.
