Quick presentation of my little PiWoode

Hi all!

First of all, thank you for your great work on Moode audio player.

Always disappointed by audio players, whether on Linux, Windows, or Android, including streaming platforms... Until I discovered Moode.

Having a Raspberry Pi Zero2 under hand, I was surprised by the performance with Mood (headless, of course). Unfortunately the Zero2 doesn't have a headphone jack and I wasn't happy with the Bluetooth solution, so after a bit of research i came across the Pifi DAC+ V2 (Chinoiserie) and once again i was surprised, first by the sound quality, but especially by the price.

With a wooden case (prototype), a small 0.96" ssd1306 OLED screen and a few adjustments, it gives me a small low-cost portable audio player suited to my needs.
I use it with my AKG K500 headphones or on one of the two amps (Marantz PM5004 and Brandt a4023) depending on where I am and what I am doing.

(I used Pillow to scroll the text on the screen which allows to display a correct size of the title, artist etc.)

I use a Toshiba G83C000BF110 laptop remote control for basic player controls and a few tweaks like adding an audio track to the favorites playlist, loading a playlist, or adding the title and artist of the song heard on a radio station to a log file (so I can remember it and look it up later).
This allows me to do without the interface when I'm tinkering in my workshop.

I still have a lot to improve: I'd like to add a key to lircrc to load the USB drive if plugged into a playlist and launch it, and also display error messages if there are any (like Alsa output, etc.), and probably many other things later. ^^
Also I'm trying to add an RGB LED to make it vary according to the music but it's not easy with the limited resources of the Zero2 ...

I'll come back here later to share more info/codes when I have a moment if anyone is interested Wink
