Why does your log have lines
mpdindex: Start
mpdindex: Cmd (update)
...
mpdindex: Done: indexed 307 artists, 400 albums, 4457 songs
and mine doesn't?
What version is the example log from?
I have 9.3.5

Because those "mpdindex" lines are only written to the log by moode when doing "Update library". When you do a "Regenerate library" the actual MPD index process still happens but moode does not write those particular log lines.

But I can't run "Update library" because I get the message "Alert Library update is already in progress".
The circle is closed
And judging by post #28, I'm not the only one with this problem.

I've already provided troubleshooting help regarding "update in progress" message and "folder not being updated by MPD " and I'm unable to determine the root cause for either of them in your particular case.
I've also explained that the MPD indexing process happens for both Update and Regen, and that the "mpdindex" log messages are moode generated and not coming from MPD.
I can see that this discussion is going around in circles but I'll leave the thread open for while longer in case someone else has insights into your issues.

If my logs report that the library update is complete, and the mpc stats command also reports this, why does the system think that the update is still in progress?
Apparently some flag is not cleared
If I put a card with version 8.3.3 in the same system, everything works fine under the same conditions

Clearly, your problem(s) isn't happening for any of the folks who give most of the technical advice on this forum in aid of Tim, our BDFL (you can look it up). This leaves us looking for a needle in a haystack without knowing what the needle is nor which haystack we should be gleaning.
FYI, the git log reports 1049 changes to the moOde code, both small and big, have occurred between 8.3.3 and 9.3.6. I didn't bother to count how many changes occurred in the MPD code, or in Raspberry Pi OS and its drivers.
Realistically, without the ability to replicate your specific issue, we can only comment based on our knowledge guided by our experiences.

Right, if we can't reproduce the issue on our end it's almost impossible to troubleshoot, but I have already posted troubleshooting steps that people can take to try and isolate the issue.
Here they are for the last time.
- Examine the MPD log to identify the last file successfully processed
- Determine the next file or folder that would be processed
- Examine that file or folder

Tried different options. It seems that all albums from the disk are added to the library.
The mpc update [<path>] command runs without errors, albums from the folder are added, and everything is written to the log.
Moreover, after Update library, it is possible to perform Update this folder once, and then the disk is accessed, the kswapd0 and mediainfo processes are running, and after their completion it is no longer possible to update either a separate folder or the entire library. Only regeneration works
I can't attach the log file because it exceeds the allowed size. But there are no errors, only warnings like -
++ WARN: unexpected PVD type 0
2025-06-18T08:43:33 exception: Failed to open ISO9660 file "/var/lib/mpd/music/USB/2Tb_Music/CLASSIC/Hesperion XXI & Jordi Savall - Orient - Occident SACD (2006) ISO/Alia Vox - Orient-Occident.iso"
