A solution would be connect your sources to something like AV receiver which'll power passive loudspeakers or connect your Pi to one of the TVs inputs and output the TV's audio to soundbar/active speakers or passive speakers via an integrated amplifier.
Yes, using an AV receiver works great, including being able (you need to turn it on in Moode's setup commands, IIRC) to see the interface on the TV.
Using an AV receiver also has the benefit of the HDMI sending data out to the receiver's DAC, which is likely a better one than the TV's.
And best of all, its more useable, for greater WAF. She's using the Moode box now, due to a single TV input button gets her there as quickly as any other TV menu item, thanks to the comm interface in recent HDMI.
