Odd thing, though: the DNS in the ver 8 (always worked) was the same as in my ver 9 installation. To remain a mystery, I guess, since (new) music was the goal and is accessible again.
And the DHCP Server in my router was apparently the source of the "offending" DNS. I fixed that too; just don't know how it got there.
