Problem: 9.0.3 Cannot connect to Pi 4B
#1
I downloaded the new 9.0.3 yesterday and used it in Pi 4B. However, the Pi did not broadcast the SSID. I tried to enter the SSID and password in my mobile phone to connect to the Pi but no luck.

I also tried to use a LAN cable to connect my notebook to the Pi LAN port. On the browser, I tried "protomoode.local" and "172.24.1.1" but still cannot connect.

Lastly, I connected a LCD screen to the Pi and looked like it booted up successfully. It also displayed "protomoode login:_ "

In the Pi Imager, I had entered "protomoode" as the host name. I had also specified user name, password, SSID and SSID password.

Any idea?

Actually, it was 9.0.4, not 9.0.3

I find out the small light of the LAN port on Pi 4B is not on when I connect it to my notebook via a LAN cable. It is supposed to be blinking. Am I correct?

I am using a USB to Ethernet adaptor (Apple brand) while my notebook is Windows based. Is this the problem?

Connect your Pi via Lan cable to your router and use the ip address to reach the MoOde install.
Does this work? Can you now ssh to your Pi?

If not then reimage your sd card and try again.
Do follow the full set-up guide from the forum menu.

The image must be made using the official Raspberry Pi Imager.

This new process began over a year ago starting with release 8.3.0 and was implemented in line with official Raspberry Pi images to provide improved security for all our users. Our release images don't contain any embedded userid's, network passwords or SSH enabled that a malicious hacker could easily exploit. These are easily set using the Pi Imager.

The Setup Guide contains a steo-by-step tutorial. There a link to the Guide on the Download page at moodeaudio.org

Just as an FYI, moOde images are built using pi-gen, the same toolchain used to build the official Raspberry Pi OS images. This means that you get a full blown RaspiOS Lite Bookworm with moOde on top for a stable, supportable up to date DIY platform :-)

This suggests to me that you expect the SSID you put into the imager to result in a WLAN running on the Pi to which you connect your phone. What you put in the imager needs to be the SSID and password of the wifi network that you expect the Pi to connect to.

Thanks for your info. Then how can I use WiFi to access the MoOde screen on Pi for the first time?

Read the setup guide carefully it will explain.

In short though, if you put your wifi network name and credentials into the imager, your moode installation will connect to it on boot automatically and you can just go to <hostname>.local in any browser attached to the same network.

Hello, rather than start a new thread, thought it best to continue with this one as I'm having the same problem. I'm a new chap to this streaming business, so please be gentle!

I've been trying Volumio, first on a Pi 4, and now on a Pi 5, connected with ethernet cable. This works just fine, but I like the looks of Moode so thought I'd give it a try. I've followed the setup instructions to the letter, using my Macbook to burn the correct Moode version onto the SD card. Tried three other cards. Tried reverting to the Pi 4. Tried accessing Moode via Safari, Google, on Macbook & iPad. Tried all types of syntax, all I.P. addresses showing on the router. Result, nothing. I just cannot “see” the Moode installation!

I'm at a complete loss now, but reluctant to give up. Help…
