Problem: problem Moode 9.3.2 wiyh DSD

I don't routinely play DSD tracks but I'll go back and check with the test tracks I have in my possession using a moOde 9.3.2 player. I'm guessing I'll have the same negative results you (Tim) had but I won't pre-judge.

The OP said "I'm noticing lags or gaps in the audio on tracks that play perfectly in version 9.2.6, both in DSD 64, 128, and 256, as well as in PCM 24b 192kHz."

OTOH - the title of the thread says "problem moOde 9.3.2 with DSD". Does this mean that his high bit rate PCM tracks still play perfectly or not? Also, do the lags or gaps occur during playback of a track or only at beginning (or ending) or a track?

Curious issue.

Kent

What the OP stated was

"I'm noticing lags or gaps in the audio [on 9.3.2] on tracks that play perfectly in version 9.2.6, both in DSD 64, 128, and 256, as well as in PCM 24b 192kHz."

I tried all those formats on my end with Allo Rev DAC and no issues whatsoever. @Always_In_The_Moode has same Topping D50s DAC as OP and his tests may provide some insight.

I have several tracks / albums @24/192 and never experienced any lag or gap during playback.
I also have some DSDs (in DSF file format - these are test tracks, well... tracks I do use for testing purposes only) from DSD64 up to DSD1024 - although my USB DAC is capable of natively reproduce DSD "only" up to DSD512, and they all play fine...
Maybe something changed in the audio buffer-sizes? Or in the MPD read-ahead...?
I must admit I am still on 8.3.9, that is, still on older MPD version than the latest 9 series...

Sharing an experience with the latest 9 series release would be more helpful.

Give it a try :-)

OK, hooked up my Khadas Tone1 board via USB2 port on an RPi 5B running moOde 9.3.2.

Just spent the last 15 minutes listening to a 5-minute test track I have encoded at DSD64, DSD128, and DSD256. It sounds great at each bit rate.

I'll try some other tracks I have later but looks like a null test here.

I'm listening on 9.3.2 to some album on DSD128 and DSD64 on 2 different DACs via DoP, and everything works fine.

Update... to 9.3.3 and the behavior with DSD and 24-192 tracks is still just as horrible. I tried changing the buffer and direct output, but nothing. I'm still experimenting, but version 9.2.6 works perfectly with the same settings.

Have you tried "DSD over PCM" in the "MPD Settings" of the "MPD Options" section under "Configure" - "Audio"?

eventually it is preferable to keep native DSD with version 9.2.6, which works perfectly. why downgrade from a conversion?
