I just finished building my first streamer from Ian’s design about two weeks ago, and I’m beyond happy with the results. Feeding my Genelecs, the difference in sound was instantly noticeable from the very first note, and after a few days of burn-in, it just kept getting better.
I’ve tested many other streamers before, but none gave me such a great balance of sound quality for the price. Now every time I turn on my system, it puts a big smile on my face. The 3D soundstage, the layering, and the precise placement of instruments really bring the music to life, and the analog-like warmth is truly special. The bass is incredibly tight and deep — honestly, I didn’t know my speakers could go that low! Simply fantastic.
I’m using Moode Audio as the software on the Raspberry Pi, which is also brilliant and complements the streamer perfectly.
