Only one album visible in library?
#1
Hello,

New user here...  I have a shared windows directory containing dozens of directories, each of which contains the .flac files of an album.
I believe I have successfully connected Moode to that shared directory, because I have a green check mark (not the red x) at the shared drive's entry.
I have updated the library and waited for plenty of time (overnight), but I have only one album apparently showing up in the library.

Any pointers on how to debug this?

cheers
Doug

How many tracks in your collection?

When the Library is regenerated or updated, a record of each file discovered by MPD and subsequently updated/added to its database is recorded in the MPD log.

Code:
cat /var/log/mpd/log

Overall Library regen/update stats are recorded in the moode startup log
Code:
cat /var/log/moode.log

Try Library Config > REGENERATE Music database
Examine the MPD and moode logs
Enjoy the Music!

Thanks Tim,
So far, I've ripped about 300 tracks into about 35 directories. (Doesn't seem like too much).

I'm operating headless, right now. Is there a way I can look at the logs over the web interface, or should I hook up a display, keyboard, mouse?

cheers
Doug

It's not about how many directories you put them into, but the tagging (artist / album / track title / year / etc.)
The symptom is more likely you have not set any artist / album name in the metadata, hence moOde classified all your music under ONE artist + ONE album (and most likely, both "unknown"...)

Hmm, I *think* the metadata is there.  Windows explorer knows about artist, album name etc when I look at the files.

It's always a hit-and-miss when it comes to Windows tagging software... (well, not always, but...)
1. sometimes FALC files are being tagged using Id3v2 tags (typical of MP3s, so...)
2. if everything is right, regarding the metadata, then the only things I can think of are
2.1. access permissions issue
2.2. unrecognized files (for some reason that escapes my mind)

But, TBH, I'd focus on (1.)

It's important to see what the moode log shows for regen/update library process stats.

I feel I must be quite close to getting this to work. The error messages are complaining about being unable to open files, presumably a permissions problem, though I don't know what I'm missing....
I'd appreciate any pointers from this excerpt of the log.
Thx, Doug

Ok, It's got to be permissions-related or some other networking problem. I just copied everything onto a USB stick, mounted that, and the library populates with lots of entries, as expected.
There's some weirdness about duplicate icons, etc, but the main problem of no content is fixed. And, I can play tunes!

I detest windows networking....
