Very odd.

Typical powerup boot time is ~45 secs. Add 10-15 secs for local display chromium startup. Significantly longer boot times suggest a boot media or other bottleneck. IIRC some USB boot drives are really slow.

I have a similar config with a 3B+ connected to a 24" HDMI monitor and no issues whatsoever with the WebUI on iPhone or Mac Safari/Chrome. Network is 5GHz WiFI.

Reboot and then post the entire contents of the startup log so people can better understand your configuration.

The log can be viewed via the SSH command moodeutl -l or downloaded via the Logs section in System Config, or via Menu, System info from  any of the Config screens. The startup log will be at the end of System info output.

OK, I'm fairly sure that the boot up speed is probably a matter of my perception. It is not really as slow as I was thinking.
However, the strange WebUI behaviour is still present after the restart.

I have attached the contents of moode.log but I am a little confused by the timing:
The log ends at 140737 while my observation was that the login prompt appeared at 140755, and the WebUI was ready to use at 140834

Also, I tried to add moode.log as an attachment but the system wouldn't allow it.

@duzeper

Try disabling the GPU (m>Config>Peripherals). The option was added specifically to help with visual artifacts on older Pi models.

Thanks Kent. That's fixed it.
All I need to do now is populate the library and give it a real test.

Also, can I assume that a DAC HAT will be compatible with Moode as an alternative to a USB - 3.5mm jack adapter.

The log entries below indicate the DNS is on a different subnet than the host. Thats not typical for residential WiFi Routers which usually run a DNS proxy on their LAN (gateway) address which in your case would be 192.168.0.1.

Network configuration issues particularly with DNS and multicast DNS (mDNS) can cause poor client to server network performance due to long round trip times. This can cause an apparent slow WebUI.

The Primary DNS (192.168.4.100) is the default Virgin Media Primary DNS server.

I realise that both wired and wireless interfaces are active. In the past, I have always disabled wireless from the Raspberry Pi desktop, but, of course that is not available in the Moode UI, and I'm not even sure if it is necessary.

Also, although I'm sure it can be done from a terminal command, again, I'm not sure of the command to disable WiFi

The option to disable/enable the integrated WiFi adapter is on the System Config screen.

I did ask 'can I assume that a DAC HAT will be compatible with Moode as an alternative to a USB - 3.5mm jack adapter'

I can now answer my own question having, impatiently, installed one - Raspberry Pi DAC+ - and the answer appears to be - no, Moode does not recognize it. Can anyone suggest a way to get Moode to detect it?

I can now answer my own question having, impatiently, installed one - Raspberry Pi DAC+ - and the answer appears to be - no, Moode does not recognize it. Can anyone suggest a way to get Moode to detect it?

Sure it can but as with any DAC HAT you have to install the correct driver first.

Go to m > Configure > Audio

In the Named I2S device box, scroll down to and select "Raspberry Pi DAC+".

Reboot.

It should now appear in the Output device list. Select it and drive on..
