Solved: library scan complete, but library view almost empty
#1
Hey,

I’m not quite sure how to describe it properly, but I ran into the following issue with my Pi Zero 2W yesterday (running the latest Moode Audio version).
I started a library update, and since then, out of my roughly 800 albums, only about 20 are now showing up in the library. If I search for albums/tracks, they do appear in the search results—but they’re missing from the library view.

Is this a known issue, and is there a solution for it?

Context for why I haven't tried a new library scan yet: The Pi Zero is used for a "mobile" Moode instance and is connected via VPN. This seems to make the library scan very slow, taking several hours instead of just a few minutes. If I can resolve the display bug without running a full library scan, I’d be glad.

One more detail I noticed: Under Settings > Library, I can see that all albums on my NAS have been scanned—only about 20 of them actually appear in the library view.

thanks in advance!

First check you don't have a filter applied (recently added or whatever). The text in centre top of the library view will give you a clue. You can click it to clear any filter that might be applied.
Failing that try clearing the library tag cache in Configure/Library.

P.S.
Be aware, that through a VPN (that I suppose implies internet access to your home-library...) it will of course be faaaar slower than in a conventional LAN scenario.

oh yes, it is painstakingly slow, though the VPN connection itself should get a stable 20mbit up/down. other devices work well over the same VPN connection but moode, or the smb connection at least, does not so easily

I did increase the rsize and wsize to 128kb and the cache to static. haven't tried a scan since but before the change music was unplayable as it was stuttering non stop. guess the caching did the most important job

my kids love moode audio and having one "to go" for a holiday is nice Smile

Files are being opened, searched and read over a network connection (using SMB protocol, tunneled through a VPN...). It's not the same thing as copying them, in terms of speed...
