If I have Moode already running on a Pi, do I still need a another Pi to be a server? The pi is a 3b+ and uses a Dac Hat.

You never had to have a separate server but many of us find one useful for other reasons. You can always store music on a USB drive or USB memory stick which you plug into the moOde player. Our one recommendation is: don't store your music on the uSD card. It might seem convenient to get a large-capacity card and load it up with music after you install moOde on it, but every time you have to reimage moOde on the card you'll lose all that music. Better to use a modest-capacity uSD card (i bought a bunch of 8GB and 16GB cards when that was the sweet spot for price) and use it only for the moOde image. ETA - I spoke of the uSD card, but I should have said "system disk", since it's possible now to boot the system from other media than the uSD card. Regards, Kent

Menu > Configure > Multiroom
View multiroom setup guide Note that the Multiroom Sender cannot also be a Receiver i.e. send audio to itself.

Ah, perhaps I misunderstood the OP's question. Sigh.

Quote:SENDER CONFIGURATION The Pi is getting my Music from a Nas share. That Pi is then sending Music over a Dac on the Pi to my speakers. So I just need to use another Pi to act as a receiver to send audio to the other speakers?

Thats not possible in moode multiroom. In your scenario with 2 rooms you would need a dedicated pi for the sender (not connected to speakers) and two receiver Pi's each connected to the room speakers. This Sender Pi can get music from your NAS share and also run Airplay, Bluetooth and Spotify renderers. Your Pi / DAC / Speakers setup can still play music directly from the NAS when the Receiver is off.

Correct.
What exactly is you usage scenario? |
