Idea: GUI switch for pure WPA3 WiFi networks

Sorry Tim. Yeah after entry don’t disclose the textfield. But at the lower level all is good. Security is always a hard one from the system side and user side. It’s all good and we should all approach it properly in the world we live in. Just trying to explain the basics of how it works and why it’s a good thing, along with choices that lead to these things. I certainly don’t want people to be upset or use the wrong things for the wrong reasons. It’s a great distro and only wanna make it the best it can be. Peace out people Smile

Lol, of course Peace, Love Woodstock :-)

Yes, at the lower level all is goodness, thanks for your explanations. It adds to the overall understanding :-)

Yup, good discussion and I'm enlightened. If the password isn't displayed "on screen" at any point, then it's all good innit?

Yes, that should do it. The only way to view the password would be to log into the pi via SSH or obtain the boot media.

Hi Tim,

Just quick post full follow up to come (tight on time) I don’t think this should be used. After the update and reboot of the router my config was broken and had to flash my SD Card and re do the network settings best people don’t use this.

Prolly just a bug or two.

Looking forward to some data and details about the failure :-)

hey

sry for warming up the discussion, but i was trying to connect my two Moode Devices to wpa3, but failed utterly via GUI
when selecting wpa3-sae and entering the password, the device does not obtain a connection/ip
after switching back to wpa2-psk, i nano'd the X.nmconnection file and changed key-mgmt to "=sae" and used my wifi pw in plaintext
this seems to work but i can't confirm wether it is actually connected via wpa3. when looking at the GUI, it still says wpa2-psk

is there a way to check with Moode to make sure i am connected via wpa3?
is there a reason why the GUI does not reflect the change in the nmconnect file?

I'm sure its due to bugs in my implementation because I don't have a WPA3 WiFi network to use for testing.

To get this to work right someone with a WPA3 network has to do the testing and provide detailed feedback and insights into which part of the code is malfunctioning.
